E-Credentialing

Credentialing is a process carried out by enterprises in the healthcare industry, for assessing the qualifications of licensed healthcare professionals and practitioners. Annual credentialing is a mandatory process to meet regulatory compliance in most countries. In most developed countries, this process is manually carried out and involves a lot of time-consuming processes and repetitions. Kumaran has come up with a value proposition to effectively use automated electronic workflow application to automate the credential process. This application, called eCredentialing, has fetched our clients time saves up to 40 percent. Also, the automated reminders and approval processes have been proven to be eco-friendly processes, helping our clients achieve their go-green initiatives.

Business Challenges

Physicians need to credentialise themselves year after year to abide by the legal regulations in most countries:

  • Credential submission process takes a minimum of two hours for a first-time entry and subsequent updates depend on the number of updates.
  • The complexity of the workflow allows multiple users or committees to approve the review process. Communication of review comments from one level to the next in the hierarchy is mostly manual and hence time-consuming.
  • Physicians already associated with a healthcare center, submits almost the same credential data year after year. However, because the process is manual and paper-based, they have to fill the forms again and again from the beginning.
  • If a physician is interested in associating himself with more than one healthcare center, then he or she should submit the credentials twice.
  • The Health Ministries of most countries introduce new policies for the credentialing process every year.

What We Offer

Kumaran’s eCredentialing is an application that is designed to provide an automated workflow for the credentialing process. eCredentialing the applications shorten the process of credential submission and its approval, thereby saving cost and time. All the details of the physicians are pre-populated from a centralized source. Hence, they can complete their credentials with just a few clicks of the mouse.

eCredentialing enables physicians to submit their credentials to any healthcare center. The data repositories are inter-linked to each other via a portal site. Physicians only need to select multiple healthcare centers from the available list and the credentials will be automatically submitted to the review committee of those centers.

eCredentialing can automatically send mail alerts to the healthcare personnel who are involved in the approval of credentials. The communication is mostly spontaneous and smooth. The solution runs on a flexible architecture that assists policy changes that may be required by the industry or ruled by the Health Ministry, from time to time.
